Rumour: Apple to Unveil New iPads, OS X Yosemite at Oct. 21 Event [u]

Well, you can’t say we didn’t see this coming. Fresh rumours today claim Apple’s next media event is set to take place on Tuesday, October 21, where the company will announce an iPad refresh plus also release OS X Yosemite.

Here’s what sources are telling The Daily Dot:

The company is planning to hold its next event on Oct. 21, where it will unveil two new iPads and announce the release of OS X Yosemite, the next version of its Mac operating system, according to sources familiar with the matter.

We’re not done there yet. More unnamed sources are echoing similar reports speaking to AppleInsider:

A person familiar with the company’s pre-launch logistics says Apple has set internal project and marketing deadlines of mid-October, ahead of the planned unveiling of major new products during the second half of the month. That would align with an anticipated media event previously rumored to be held at some point during October. The same source who spoke to AppleInsider has shared reliable information on product introduction and timing in the past.

Last year Apple held a special event on Tuesday, October 22 and unveiled OS X Mavericks, updated Retina MacBook Pros, iPad Air, Retina iPad mini and announced the new Mac Pro, plus released iOS 7.0.3 after the event.

Can you handle more Apple goodies this fall?

Update: Jim Dalrymple from The Loop has just crushed this rumour with a “Nope”.

Update 2: Bloomberg had this to say about the event:

Apple will unveil the next generation of iPad tablets around mid-October, a person with knowledge of the plans said, as the company bolsters its product lineup ahead of the holiday shopping season.
