iBooks Now Available For iPhone 3G/3GS & iPod touch 2G/3G

When the iPad launched, one of the killer apps was iBooks and the accompanying iBookstore. Today, with the release of iOS4 for iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 2G, and iPod touch 3G, Apple has released iBooks (and the iBookstore) for those devices.

The current version is iBooks 1.1, making iBooks a universal app for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch. The iBooks update also delivered over-the-air syncing of bookmarks and notes for books across a user’s devices. For example, if you bought a book on your iPad, the notes/bookmarks would be synced on that same book on your iPhone.

iBooks for iPhone also features PDF support, which allows users to store and view their PDF documents from the iBooks app. iBooks also delivers a new Georgia font, sepia or white colored pages, a left-justified option, and an increase in font size options.

To get iBooks, you must have an iPhone 3G/3GS or iPod touch 2G/3G and must be running the latest operating system, iOS4. To download iOS4, use check for update in iTunes or check out this post here! Unfortunately for the iBookstore, purchases are not yet available in Canada, but hopefully iBookstore purchases are coming soon.

  • Hooray, only 4.0 is applicable for this app! And better yet, my first gen iPod can't get 4.0! Thank you, Apple. =)

  • Just buy a new iPod and you'll get iBooks.

  • Ex

Maybe I don't want a new iPod. Apple should be helping me out! I live on E.
    Hastings and eat rags!

  • That's not a very good solution…

  • I'm pretty sure I'm being mocked, but I'm not entirely sure. Either way, I don't have the money for a new iPod, groceries come first!

  • Ex

I'm not mocking you. I am indirectly insulting Gary cause he tells you
to buy a new iPod where he cannot even feed himself outside of Mr.
    Noodles half packs.

  • I'm not mocking you. But, I agree my solution isn't the greatest. It's sad that Apple has left out a huge segment of customers.

no ones mocking you, but im sure the iphone dev team will find a way to get your ipod touch os 4.0 its stupid espically since the first gen iphone doesnt even get os 4 just another way off every year you gotta upgrade

  • gtasscarlo

  • There are efforts to backport firmware 4.0, but it's not being done by the Dev-Team.
