cool indeed, but I still can't justify the purchase. Honestly, I was all set to make the leap and get one because hmming and hawing about it finally got to me, but then I played with one in the store and my curiosity about the new features was satisfied. Yeah, the OS loads a bit faster and has silkier transitions, the compass is neat, and the video recording is cool, but not enough for me to shell out a bunch of cash when my 3g does the job just fine.

If I am swayed it'll be when/if developers come up with something irresistibly cool in terms of apps. And by that time a new model will probably be out or not far off. I predict less than a year till something else is announced, maybe even at xmas or shortly after. If they wanted this to be the new flagship model for a year, they would have at least offered a new color and/or a slightly new look to say this IS the new iphone. It's all too subtle for it to be a long lasting model.

Great comparison between the start up times between 3G and 3GS. I have found your time in seconds as very close to mine. By the way, what application were you using for this test? Would like to obtain it. Thanks, Wayne
