I had the same thing happen to me, only I actually talked to a rep and renewed my plan on the phone, only to get the cancelled package on my next bill... I called up extremely irate and got my old plan back, without the SAF, and $45/mth/unlimited. All is fine now...

It is true. I asked about the iPhone today and they informed me that "a lot of their customer's don't like the added costs of the iPhone." Guess that the new company position. I joined with them back in the Microcell days too. Slowly seen them go downhill. They were the alternative brand, that gave you what you needed. Understandably in competitive markets, you need to restructure, but sad to seem them go this way.

Has this been confirmed yet? I can't find any news on this outside of this website. I'm planning on getting an iPhone in the near future and am currently still favouring Fido as a provider. So, I'd be really interested in the newest 'scoop' here.

I too have been a customer since the Microcell days! I have the original City Fido Unlimited local calling plan for $45/month which included the system access fee!...at least I thought I was still getting this rate until I checked my bill and it showed I had cancelled this and agreed to a $50 plan which does not include the system access fee.

I'm really upset that this change was done without me knowing. As far as I was informed numerous times by CSR at fido there was a grandfather clause on my agreement. If this meant renewing as I have already done and if my contract in fact was completed, they should have told me it was up for renewal and in order to keep this same agreement I would be required to renew.

I have yet to express my bitter disappointment but they shall feel the wrath of one very unhappy customer.

I just signed up a 3 year contract for my iphone with fido, and they had better service me well for those 3 years as I have been a return customer in the past.
They will only loose out if they turn their backs on iphone clients. I think Ted Rogers wouldn't like this move as he wanted to provide a product that the customers wanted.
Fido is Rogers even though they act independently from each other.
Dumb move.

as someone who is very close to fido I can confirm they will most likley stop selling the iphone. my suggestion is email, email , email let apple know what you think about this they already have issues with rogers to begin with.

I can also tell you that communication between the retail locations and head office has stoped, no employee including managers have any Idea what's going on. when rogers decides to do something they now do it and employees arrive for there next shift to something new and in most case bull shit money grabs which screw the customer. From what I've scene up to this point it would not surprise me if Rogers is plotting to get rid of fido or move the brand into their stores.

if you "hop ship" and sign a new contract with Rogers and you are not yet eligible for a HUP, Fido will waive your ECF IFF (if and only if!) a) you have been a customer for at least 1 year, and b) you are in good credit standing with them, i.e. no outstanding debt or history of unpaid bills, etc.

at least this was rogers' policy when i jumped to fido to grab the iphone when i was only 6 mos into my 3-yr contract with rogers. (in fact this was the loophole to get an iphone right away instead waiting to be hup-eligible! silly, really...)
