1080P Apple TV Refresh to Be Announced with Dual Core iPad 3 Tomorrow? [Rumour, Update]

Update 1: According to 9to5Mac, a $99 Apple TV refresh will be released tomorrow as the J33 model, MD199LL/A – J33 BEST -USA for $99, and will support 1080P.

On the eve of the iPad 3 release, more ‘leaks’ have surfaced and this time it’s from The Verge. They are hearing further whispers of an Apple TV refresh (which has been out of stock for a while now) to include 1080P support. Moreover, they are reiterating the iPad 3 will remain dual core, with the quad core A6 to be saved for the iPhone 5:

According to sources familiar with the matter, Apple will update both the new Apple TV and the iPad 3 (or iPad HD, a name we first unearthed last year) not with the rumored, quad-core A6 system-on-a-chip, but rather the A5X, a dual-core SoC said to have a more powerful GPU. From what we’re hearing, it’s basically an A5 on steroids.

Our source was adamant that neither of the new products would be receiving the next generation chip — rather, that Apple seems to be waiting for the launch of the iPhone 5 to introduce the rumored A6.

Their sources also noted more RAM would be included in the next iPad, along with various LTE models. Canada is ready and wired for LTE as the ‘Big 3’ have their networks up and running.

Time to break out the iPad 3/Apple TV BINGO card for tomorrow!
