Apple Enters AT&T vs Verizon Battle

If you have not been watching, over the last few weeks Verizon has begun a battle with AT&T over network coverage. Verizon released a series of ads that showcased how Verizon’s network is better than AT&T.

The Verizon ad phrase was “There’s a Map for that”, which is essentially mocking Apple’s “There’s a App for that”. It is quite clear that Verizon is not only targeting AT&T, but Apple as well.

Not to be outdone, AT&T released a series of its own ads explaining and showcasing how Verizon is wrong and that AT&T does in fact have the greater network. The entire AT&T/Verizon debate has even started a lawsuit.

The next AT&T connects to the previous 30-second spot:

Well, Apple has stepped in with their own iPhone ads which will be airing tonight.

The two new Apple iPhone ads start out as the typical iPhone ad showcasing apps on a white background. However, these ads are showcasing the ability to browse the web and be on a call with the iPhone/AT&T, something that cannot be done with Verizon.

Well, the ads seem like typical Apple ads until right at the end when the narrator in the ad says:

“…Can your phone and your network do that?”

OH NO THEY DIDN’T! What a slap in the face. It is so subtle but so effective.

Fortunately, none of the Canadian carriers seem to have this issue right now but it sure is entertaining to watch our American counterparts duke it out.
