Apple Q3 Earnings Being Released Today

There was an interesting article in the Wall Street Journal yesterday that revealed some interesting numbers involving Apple’s profit margins with the iPhone. Even with only a 1% unit market share of worldwide cellphones, Apple takes in 20% of the entire industry’s profit.

Today Apple will be releasing its Q3 earning and all eyes will be on Cupertino. Remember, Apple did once again sell 1 million iPhone 3GS units in 3 days. On top of this, Mac sales have been estimated at 2.6 million for this third quarter, an impressive number in itself. In Q2, you may recall that Apple sold 3.8 million iPhones and made 1.2 billion in profit–they don’t mess around.

Apple definitely might be holding back on its numbers but we’ll soon find out how well they have been doing with iPhone/Mac sales. Don’t forget they have a massive war chest of 29 billion in cash, which is more than enough for them to R&D enough future iPhone models (so our children can enjoy them too).

How Many iPhone 3GS Units Has Rogers Sold in Canada?

Rogers didn’t reveal much in a statement, but did mention the following:

Keith McArthur stated “We’ve sold tens of thousands of iPhone 3GS units through Rogers Wireless and Fido. Demand for the iPhone 3GS in Canada has been very strong and we’re working with Apple to get a 3GS to every Canadian who wants one.”

Any predictions on how many iPhone 3GS units were sold and just iPhones in general? In this downward economy, it seems as though people still love their iPhones. I’m predicting 4 million worldwide iPhones sold!
