While you make valid points, many screen protectors are clear and I
very much doubt sensor blockages on a clear film.

Speaking as a Rogers iphone tech support agent, Screen protectors can cause more issues then there worth, they block sensors all the time (meaning when you make a call the screen does not come back up when you take it away from your ear) I can't count how many times I've had that call, but it's atleast three times a week. Also, cases can cause some serious battery issues, particularly if you leave it on the phone while charging.

Honestly its Apple's loss. Regardless if they sell or not, people will buy a screen protector. It was just a convenience to buy through Apple. Now Apple won't be making the extra profit for selling screen protectors.
