Fido Reduces Prepaid CityFido Plan By $5, Adds 1,000 Minutes

This week, Fido announced that the wireless company will be reducing its CityFido Prepaid plan by $5.00 as of March 6, 2011. The plan is also receiving a bump in anytime minutes to 2,000 minutes, from the existing 1,000 minutes.

While Fido does offer two postpaid CityFido plans, the company only offers one prepaid CityFido plan. However, the base $35 postpaid CityFido plan is very similar to the updated prepaid CityFido plan.

The updated prepaid CityFido plan is detailed below:

CityFido $39.75 (includes 911 fee)

  • Minutes: 2,000 local zone minutes anytime (per second billing)
  • Evening/Weekends: None
  • Text Messaging: Unlimited outgoing from Canada to Canada. Unlimited incoming text messages anytime.
  • Features: Call Waiting, Caller Display, Voicemail
  • Contract Term: None
  • Available Cities: Victoria, Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, London, Toronto, Ottawa/Gatineau, Montreal, Quebec

The noticeable differences between this prepaid offer and the $35 postpaid CityFido plan is the lack of international text messaging, voicemail/caller display, and that the prepaid plan costs $4.75 more. The postpaid offer also provides promotional pricing for an iPhone when a 3-year term is signed.
