I'm not a programer and not fully understand the in app. As a end user of apps, I find lite versions are great because one can try the app before purchasing. Unless a free trial period is part of the new change. Then lite versions are the way to go.

I think this is a stellar idea! The App Store is crowded with lite and non-lite versions of many apps and this feature will clean that up and make it easier to sort through the ever increasing number of apps in the App Store to find the ones you want.

As for whether free apps should remain free... in my view, this policy change by Apple doesn't affect that. A developer who was going to make a free app and not charge for any features of it can still do so under these new rules. And if they were planning to have a lite version with some features and a paid version with some additional features, now they only need to create one version and make the additional features in-app purchases.

Really this rule change just simplifies things. So what exactly is the complaint? I don't see any cause for complaint. In fact, I see cause to praise Apple for seeing the writing on the wall and taking appropriate action based upon it.
