Hi,
What is the latest on tethering? I signed up for an iPhone plan with data in August/2008. I have 6GB
data plan. If I use my iphone for tethering will be charged an extra amount even though I dont exceed
my 6GB allowed data?

So, if I sign up for a 6GB data plan right now, I can only tether free till the end of the year? That really sucks, I could get used to tethering when I'm out, but I suppose the iPhone is a little computer in itself anyway.

I just spoke to Rogers and they told me it was a promotional tethering period, that after December 31st I had to either choose a tethering plan or turn tethering off. I have an original 6GB plan. It drives me nuts when there is no clear answer.

I upgraded to 3.0 today..

I just plugged my iphone into my laptop and it seemd to work fine.. fast and easy.. no connecting/network bull shit

dont know much bout computers, but it just worked... all things should be this simple !!!

the hardest thing was the three strokes to get into the settings-network-tethering.

but i think that if you leave tetherning on it eats your battery life... (even when its not plugged in, maybe its using bluetooth? ? ? ? maybe? ? ?

Further testing of the bluetooth tethering is really impressing me. I have my mac mini and my toshiba laptop (windows7RC) both tethered at the same time and browsing at the same time through my iphone 3g. at the same time, i can be on a call on the phone, press the home button to go to my home screen, and browsing the mobile safari web.

Way to go Apple. The tethering is really well implemented.

If you have a 1GB data plan or higher, as of the 11th, Rogers is now able to add the tethering SOC on your account. Once the SOC is enabled, do a Reset network configuration the phone will reboot and you will have tethering enabled. I am writing this on my Mac mini tethered to my iphone. Works great. Haven't done a speedtest yet but it seems very responsive (running tethered on bluetooth)
