Official Dev Team 1.1.3 Jailbreak Released!

by Gary on January 28th, 2008

Seems like someone has opened the floodgates, because in the past few days we’ve received a number of 1.1.3 jailbreaks. The first was “unofficially” released by NateTrue–now (as some of you forum lurkers may have already found out about), we have the “official” release of the 1.1.3 jailbreak by the iPhone Dev Team!

What makes this release different from NateTrue’s 1.1.3 jailbreak?

  1. Your iPhone needs to already be jailbroken on 1.1.2 firmware; NateTrue’s version allowed updating from 1.1.1, but many people have had problems starting from here.
  2. This solution works for both Windows and Mac.

So if you’re going to attempt this update, you should be at a jailbreaked 1.1.2 state, then install the latest “BSD Subsystem” via Installer prior to starting this upgrade. Check out this guide from HackThatiPhone for some step by step Windows instructions (Click here for Macs). As I’ve mentioned before, before you start an upgrade, back up your data and be prepared to take on some risk! Good luck! :)

    please help me people,
i upgraded me iphone to 1.1.3 through i tunes not through official upgrade in installer.
and now am trying to downgrade it to 1.1.1 or 1.0.2 but none is working.
Now its in the slid for emergency mode, is there any way i can take it off from that mode so it can be downgrade it again?
i restored it back to recovery mode thinking that i can downgrade it , but it keeps giving a message that i phone could not be restored after 1 second of extracting the files of the firmware. Meaning its not getting restored by any firmware.
    What Should i do???

Ok well i have been reading what you guys have said and not wanting to take the risk of doing the 1.1.3 Soft Upgrade. So i jumped the ship and did it. i thought why not... anything that could happen is fixable. and well it worked perfect for me. Its now on 1.1.3 and working awesome. Although it did take quite a bit longer then other softwares to update but in the end it worked great. Im from canada and i was in doubt as well. But its fine now. So i just thought i would say. and if any of you guys decide to as well good luck,

So i just wanted to say that because i see some of you not wanting to risk it. I just bought an iPhone v1.1.3 out of box. So I've been told I just bought an expensive paperweight. How long do you think it'll be for these out of box versions to become unlocked?
    Cheers!

Does it render most of the 3rd party apps useless though?
  • Some will become useless, but with time, updates will come out for sure. So it's another cycle of waiting again. :)

one of the dev team members posted a special key on his site that he said was really important? does anybody know 100% what this code means (if anything) to us 1.1.2ers?

    hey everyone.

the 1.1.3 upgrade is really just very useless if you are runing something stable already.

the key features are already offered by 3rd party apps and there is nothign really that exciting about the 1.1.3 FW. however some of the most common problems are already fixed by the dev crew and i think the only one that remains is the hybrid view on maps. which really is a waste of time if u are on EDGE coz it will take almost a day to load (ok maybe not a day but very long)

im satisfied with my 1.1.1 and i think many ppl are. but whatever the case good luck to u if u decide to embark the journey of upgrading!

Spoke to rogers today and they have no word on any new plans so i wouldn't keep ur hopes too high about the earlier post. but it would be sweet if we could get unlimited data already in this bloody country! and not get ripped off.

Is there any word on whether or not the StealthSIM is working on 1.1.3??? I have read that the turbo SIM is working for some people, but I would like to know for sure before I do anything :-)
  • Expect some news coming in the next day! :)

    iPhone Fan,

Please let me know when you upgrade to 1.1.3, I am basically copying you.

I bought my phone OTB 1.1.2, 2 weeks ago. Got a Stealth Sim, it worked great. Now I am waiting for my invisible sheild in the mail, and will let you know how that goes.

I don't see any reason to take the risk on 1.1.3 yet, but will be more inclined to do so if you and Dusty jump ship.

    Cheers,

    Fun Bobby.
  • Hey thanks for visiting. You know, with these updates and such, unless you're confident of what the end result will be, it's best to wait and see what bugs may arise. I'm going to hold off until I know for sure that the update will work for me. Right now, my iPhone is working perfectly so I don't have any need to update my firmware. :)

Sweeet. I checked with the iPhoneTheSolution website and they seem to have confirmed the operation of SteathSim with the soft upgrade approach. Let me be clear: They confirmed that the unlock still works with the "unofficial" approach released by NateTrue. I believe since this upgrade does not update the baseband, the unlock still works. I also suspect that the officially released jailbreak by the Dev team will also work, but let's wait until the guys at iPhoneTheSolution confirm that.
  • Hey, are you going to email me your address? If you don't want the StealthSIM, I'm sure someone else will! ;)
  • Samer
:) I've been having e-mail problems lately.. I sent the address twice.. I hope you got it. Sorry Tom.
  • tom
    haha i was just kidding
  • tom
    i'll take it!
  • You guys both rock...thanks for commenting all the time! :)

Such a nice guy Dusty, always so positive and sincere.

Cooooooool, ya I'm still running 1.1.2 lol I'm gonna wait a week or so until I read me about the 1.1.3 and etc.. So far the capabilities for apps to run on it is good :) There still some apps that don't run on 1.1.3 but there soon to be upgraded, I hope lol ;) Well good luck to everyone that attempts to upgrade and post ur replies on how it worked out for u.

    Dusty
