I recently went into a Rogers store to inquire about an upgrade on my phone. I currently have a 3G and was looking at upgrading to a 3Gs, I was told because I am only 16 months into my contract. About a week later I was contacted by a Rogers rep via phone asking me if I would like to upgrade my 3G to a 3Gs, I asked why when I went into the store it wasnt an option.

Aparently if you own a 3G you are able to upgrade to a 3Gs after only a year. Dont quote me on this I may have understood but I just got my new phone this morning.

Correct. Fidos upgrade program is like this:

1.) Get a phone on a 3 year contract
2.) Wait until 30 months in and upgrade and get a new phone
3.) The contract from the upgrade at 30 months in does not take effect until the END of your CURRENT contract.
4.) Rinse and repeat.

I was also told I have to wait 30 months (6 months before my 3 year contract is up) to upgrade with FIDO.

Yes, it's 30 months. As of October, I have 29 months till I can upgrade my smartphone. However, if there is going to be competition with better pricing... I'm willing to wait the 36 months before upgrading my phone unless I have enough money to buy off contract.

I've been with Fido for 18 months and they told me Fido has changed their policies to you have to wait till you are 30 months into your contract before you can upgrade to an iPhone. Its bull since they told me I could get one after 15 months when I first joined with them. Anyone else have this issue?
