The Hollywood Reporter reports (via The Verge) the Ashton Kutcher-led biopic on Steve Jobs titled “jOBS”, will debut at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival in Utah–and close out the event on January 27th. Below is the description of the biopic:

jOBS / U.S.A. (Director: Joshua Michael Stern, Screenwriter: Matt Whiteley) — The true story of one of the greatest entrepreneurs in American history, jOBS chronicles the defining 30 years of Steve Jobs’ life. jOBS is a candid, inspiring and personal portrait of the one who saw things differently. Cast: Ashton Kutcher, Dermot Mulroney, Josh Gad, Lukas Haas, J.K. Simmons, Matthew Modine. CLOSING NIGHT FILM

Sundance organizers told the Reporter “jOBS” was chosen to end the festival due to its inspirational story in nature and Kutcher’s strong performance in the movie:

But Trevor Groth, director of programming for Sundance, said the film was chosen to close the festival because “there’s something inspirational about it. To see what he achieved by just like staying true to his vision is something that, you know, I think a lot of people can relate to and get hope from.”

Festival director John Cooper believes Kutcher’s portrayal of the enigmatic Apple co-founder will resonate with viewers. “Ashton Kutcher’s performance I thought was quite remarkable,” Cooper said. “It’s a very formidable performance, and it seemed like he really tried to grasp all the nuances of who Steve Jobs was.”

We first heard of Kutcher being the ‘chosen one’ to portray Jobs back in April. Filming took place in locations such as the garage where Jobs and Wozniak created Apple and the former’s childhood home in Los Altos. It’ll be interesting to see if Kutcher can portray a role other than Michael Kelso from That’s 70’s Show.
