OK, so this is probably a dumb question answered a million times before, but worth a shot.

I already have an iPhone 3G that I bought in the UK and is unlocked (and bought prepaid for a much much better deal than Rogers could ever dream of offering).

ANYWAY, I have to return to Canada and have resigned to the fact I'll be trapped into a contract with Rogers.

My question is, if I already have the phone will I still be trapped into a 3 year contract? What's the minimum contract I can get?

I really wish I could just use it prepaid, it was running me about $20 a month for a ton of minutes and unlimited 3g/wifi hotspots for a YEAR in the UK with O2 :(

Thanks for your replies!

I was in a Rogers store today and they confirmed the April 15th date as the change for the employee plan, so according to them the 17.50 is still available.

I'm on a $20 plan that includes 250 minutes/Unlimited Rogers2Rogers and Rogers2Fido/6pm Evenings/Unlim. Weekends and I subscribe to a $15 smartphone value pack that includes voicemail, 2500 texts, and caller ID. I renewed the contract the first day the iPhone came out, but I neglected to get a data plan. Do you think I'm in a good position to bargain to lower the rate of the $35 value pack? 35 is a little steep. $20 extra wouldn't be great. I could deal with 5 or 10 though.
