Verizon Claims Next iPhone Will Be a “World Phone”

More claims are coming from Verizon’s CFO this time, and once again it pertains to the next generation iPhone being a ‘world phone’ capable of both GSM and CDMA antenna bands. During Verizon’s recent earnings report in April, CFO Fran Shammo hinted the next iPhone would be a ‘world phone’. Today, at the Global Technology Summit Shammo was busy talking next-iPhone details with Reuters. The existing Qualcomm chip within the Verizon iPhone already has dual mode capabilities as revealed from an iFixit teardown.

When the next iPhone model launches Verizon will be able to offer it at the same time as AT&T. Verizon’s version will also work in as many countries as AT&T’s iPhone, which has global coverage, Shammo said

Apple has been rumoured to be making smaller SIM cards, and the next iPhone 4S is rumoured to have the A5 chip and an upgraded camera.
