2G rules! Why spend the money? The 2G works just fine. ATT is gready and needs more of your $$$ I jailbroke and unlocked 3 of them. I can run any thing I choose to. Not them. paying for apps sucks, Hey after all the customers are making this phone a huge hit. They are driving the development. Apple did a great design and has vision but, ATT screws it up "GREED" My phone is used as a phone FIRST, a portable music player, then everything else. I do not need a data plan just because ATT says I cannot buy the handset untill I do. BULLSHIT! Its all BULLSHIT! To anyone and everyone
1) Find one and unlock it
2) then jailbreak it
3) use your existing sim card ( NO need to get a SPECIAL one as ATT tells you)
4) down load any apps you like from Cydia (free) or now purchase some of them
5) Fill it up with music from Itunes you still can purchase itunes apps if ya wish to
Am just tired of the carriers forcing stuff to customers and the lies they tell to us
If it ain't broke-Dont try to fix it! All you will do is ruin it........... Let them build the 3G network till it is equal in coverage to 2g then maybe I'll pony up again
regards, from a Vet peace to ALL..................

I am still using my iPhone 2G for the following reasons...

-The brushed metal back is IMO much better
-I don't really listen to much music so I don't need the additional space
-I am not a huge surfer, so the Edge connection is just fine for my E-mail
-This thing is bullet proof, I've dropped it more times then I care to admit and it still keeps going
-I don't want to fork out about $400 for a phone which is almost identical to mine
-I'm fully unlocked and happy
-If it ain't broke, don't fix it
-My 1st Gen iPhone is more unique because not many people have one! and they are always curious about the metal back!
-I'm waiting for the next generation iPhone

I have not updated because I just recently got the 1st gen iPhone. Why not the 3G? Well, I prefer METAL! My MBP is all metal, my Nokia 6300 was moded with all METAL exterior and my iPhone 2G is (most) METAL! :P

Me and my first gen just match. The shape is far better and I love the metal casing. I have admit though I do yearn for the app store and no unlocking (I'm too scared to update to 2.0 unlocked, sigh). Thanks!

I haven't upgraded yet as I prefer the "vintage" aspect. Vintage clothes = hip and trendy, vintage iPhone = hipper than a 3G. =)
Actually I believe in the "if it ain't broken, don't fix it" idealolgy.
