We have received unconfirmed reports that effective June 9, 2009, Rogers Wireless will no longer be offering monthly (non-contract) voice or data plans.

What this means is all of Rogers’ voice plans and data plans will only be available on 12, 24, or 36 month contract terms. Most of the promotional Rogers voice plans, data plans, or voice/data plan combos require a 36 month contract anyway, but there are a few voice only plans that are available on a month-to-month basis, requiring no contract. There are also numerous data plans available on a month-to-month basis requiring no contract. However, it would now seem that both voice plans and data plans will now require atleast a 12, 24, or 36 month contract term.
Like I said, this has not been confirmed, but if it turns out to be true it will be a real shame. Monthly non-contract plans are a great resource for people who simply need temporary cellular service, but we may be seeing the end of those days with Rogers. From now on though, it seems that if you need monthly non-contract service from Rogers, Pay as you Go is your only option which is less than great.
I will update this further as the situtation develops.
