That's correct. People could have canceled.

The DECF did not apply to the iPhone specific plans until January 6
2010.

What? This is new to you? I thought they have had that for a long time.

If there's only $400/$300 ECF, people would have sign up a contract on iPhone then cancel it. They can then sell the iPhone for $500-700. That's a couple hundred dollars profit. LOL!

Just prior to getting my iphone, I had a Palm Pre. When neither Palm nor Bell could tell me when they would have a fix for my issues with the phone ie. app limits, no PAID apps available to purchase in the Canadian app store, itunes sync issues, etc, I decided I'd had enough of waiting for something to change, and wanted to get out of my contract. Bell wanted $400 + $200 (data) + taxes to get out of my contract. I posted an ad on cellclients.com and found someone to take over my contract and phone within 3 days. Otherwise I'd still be stuck with my Pre. I highly recommend the site to avoid ECF fees if you need out of a contract or want to upgrade your phone early, etc.

If your gonna get the iPhone you should get a data plan regardless and the dcef is so easy to break out of a rep actually suggested it to me cus I use up my data plan on average I use 5.6 gb a month using skype and other stuff but using skype over 3g saves you a ton of money the only bad thing is they don't have the 6gb/30. Maybe they don't want me draining their networks and they offered me to cancel the dcef for free
