It is a great app but there is a concern regarding exposing billing info to the public or anybody else. Sometimes people borrow your phone or your kids use it for fun. Anyone can just see or change your account with this app. Can the app be updated with a password or pin feature?

Nice self justification, but we all know that if you could afford it, you'd have a data plan. I tried to get away with just using wifi at first, was in the same situation as you - spent most of my time at University, home or friends places which have wifi or coffee shops. What I soon realized however was that many places like starbucks make you buy something to use their wifi, or many places I thought had free wifi didn't or I needed to find someone to get a password or whatever. It became a time wasting annoying game of "trying to some free wifi" so that I could use my device. Never mind having to always tell people "oh I can't actually do that right now or here, because I don't have a data plan"... to which they would respond, "then why do you have an iPhone"... over and over.

And when I was at home or at University... it was so much easier to use my laptop anyway... so when you think of it that way, the iphone is really only getting use in those between wifi situations, and that's where it really shines.

Once I got a data plan, my world changed! if I happened to be in a wifi area great, but when I wasn't, which I quickly realized was when I actually spent most of my "free" time (not doing school work, or talking to friends, but the space and time between these places, transit especially) I could just use my phone and not worry about it. It made so many of my apps so much more useable!!

Anyway, I can see where you're coming from, but we both know that, yes you can get away with-out having data, but you're not using the device to it's full (or even partial) potential that you paid for, and having a data plan is definitely the way to go.

In fact if I could do it all over again, I feel my original decision was flawed, I should have just purchased a cheap or free phone and an iPod touch, because really why have a phone with the capability to use data over a cell connection when I wasn't going to? Really, it doesn't make sense... I could instead have bought a device (ipod touch) with more twice the storage, the same wifi functionality in a slimmer, lighter form and not been silently wishing I could use 3G while finding reasons to justify the purchase to myself the whole time.

I just got my iPhone a few days ago and it is on the same account as my dad's iPhone, which he's had for a few months. I want to use this app to keep track of my phone usage, obviously, but when i open the app, it just says that it's unable to provide the information because there were changes made to the account during the current billing cycle. Does this mean that i'll be able to use this app once my first payment is made? It shows the bill information for my dad's iPhone, and the app works fine for his phone.
