When I was getting the iPhone in June, there was NO way to get it w/o a data plan. Same thing was in July 2008. This is FIDO. Even when you buy at Apple, they use FIDO's on-line activation system which forces them to add the data plan. Maybe things changed since then but I doubt.

I am near one, but how will I be able to activate the iPhone if rogers goes data crazy every time? What I mean is, how does going to Apple go around the problem?

The facts are not false.
Rogers reps make commission on data and they can choose whether to
sell you an iPhone or not.

After talking to Rogers, they flat out refused to give me a voice plan only with iPhone, let alone at the 399$ price for the 16GB 3GS. I spoke to bell for the same issue (Uber 25) and they said to ask again in 2 weeks as right now, only iPhone combo plans are available.

Collusion much?

Looks like the facts given here are false since the reps won't budge beyond the combo plans.
