iPhone 5 Touchscreen Display Will Be Smaller Than 4-inches

There have been many rumors floating all over the web speculating that the fifth generation iPhone will have a larger display of 4.2-inches. However, Digitimes has just revealed in a recent report that the iPhone 5 will in fact feature a smaller touchscreen panel, something not larger than 4.0-inches. Interestingly the sources claiming the above have also revealed that iPhone 5’s back design will be changed to a metal chassis instead of glass, which does not satisfy the claims made by MacRumors with N94 prototype device which sports a similar back cover as an iPhone 4.

Sources from upstream panel suppliers have recently revealed that the iPhone 5’s panel size will still be less than 4-inch. In addition, iPhone 5’s back design will be changed to a metal chassis instead of reinforced-glasses.

iPhone 5 will adopt a 3.5- to 3.7-inch panel with a design to allow the bezel of the panel to become thinner and make the screen look larger

Alongside a larger display for iPhone 5, number of other rumored specifications have come forth in the recent few months. These include:

  • 4.2-inch HD touch panel
  • 8-megapixel camera
  • Full HD video recording
  • A5 dual-core processor
  • Ultra-thin design

Contrary to the above speculations, the sources believe iPhone will not have many differences compared to iPhone 4 and the touch panel will still be smaller than 4-inch. What do you think guys, are we really going to see two iPhone handsets in October? One based on N94 prototype (iPhone 4S) and another one with an aluminum back (iPhone 5)?
