Good news! I just called Apple and told them my phone warranty had expired (expired for 21 days). and they willing to make an exception to let me purchase APP.

Kinda expensive…..$79cdn + tax in Canada.

I find it UNACCEPTABLE that early adopters are being penalized for purchasing their phones when the device was released. I find it a cop-out for Apple to tell us that we are out of warranty and not eligible for extended warranty because they could not get their product out in time for customers to apply coverage to their device. We cannot stand by and let this happen.

True it won't be brand new, e.g. if I did an OOW replacement August 2010 I won't get the latest iPhone 3GS+, but a *working* refurb'ed phone is still better than one that's drowned or otherwise dead .

Keep in mind though that it is a refurb, so that is why it is not the full price.

Excellent news; not just the Applecare, but Out-Of-Warranty replacement service too. $229 is essentially the subsidized price of a new 16 GB 3GS… definitely beats the hell out of a $700 replacement (or whatever the 3GS “really” costs)

What?

I said that OOW service does cover liquid damage. As in, if your iPhone is liquid damaged, it qualifies for OOW.
The regular service does not cover liquid damage.
