Apple Launches 2010 Back To School Promotion

Today Apple launched their 2010 Back to School promotion targeted at college and university students, faculty, and staff in the US and Canada.

The Back to School promotion offers a free iPod touch with the purchase of a qualifying Mac, which also receives at least $100 off, on the same sales receipt. While the maximum rebate for the iPod is $219, customers may apply the rebate to any iPod, however the rebate price will not exceed the price of the iPod.

For example, opting for a 32GB iPod touch, students/faculty/staff will only receive up to $219 off of the $329 retail price. Alternatively, customers opting for the iPod nano will receive either $169 or $199 as the rebate, since those prices are the maximum prices for that particular iPod.

The maximum Canadian rebates are as follows:

  • iPod touch: $219
  • iPod classic 160GB: $219
  • iPod nano 16GB: $199
  • iPod nano 8GB: $169
  • iPod shuffle 4GB (stainless steel): $109
  • iPod shuffle 4GB: $89

New standard configurations and build-to-order Macs are all eligible for the promotion but the Mac mini does not qualify. The promotion does not extend to refurbished products, the iPhone, or the iPad.

The Apple Back to School promotion runs through September 7, 2010. Full promotional details are available in the Terms and Conditions for the Back to School promotion in the U.S. and Canada.
