As indicated by famed hacker Pod2G, his latest blog post shows it takes a village to raise an iPhone 4S jailbreak. It appears a public release of the A5 jailbreak will require some help, rather than Pod2g running solo again. Titled Sandbox difficulties, he goes on to write:
@planetbeing, the legendary hacker behind iPhone Linux and lot of jailbreaks (seehttp://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=User:Planetbeing) has joined the A5 research!
The famous @MuscleNerd (http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=User:MuscleNerd), the leader of the iPhone Dev Team, who did a lot of tests for Corona and whom integrated it and made it simple in redsn0w is willing to help also.
And last, but not least @p0sixninja (http://theiphonewiki.com/wiki/index.php?title=User:Posixninja), the leader of the Chronic Dev Team, and my partner for years on iPhone security research has started to code and fuzz the Apple sandbox.
We now have a dream team to find a path for a public release of the A5 jailbreak.
Cross your fingers.
Those patiently waiting to ‘free’ our iPhone 4S or iPad 2 units from the limitations of iOS have probably turned to some supreme diety or Android for deliverance. But if there ever there were a dream team for creating a jailbreak, this would be it (maybe throw in Saurik). A few days ago, Pod2G even made the bold move to state a passive ETA of sometime this week on twitter, leading some to take his announcement literally based on his 140 character tweet.
As for the ‘Dream Team’ and what they have stumbled upon so far? P0sixninja tweeted this morning that he hates playing in the sandbox, alluding the A5 public release could be more difficult than expected:
Good luck to everyone! To the entire jailbreak community thank you again for your efforts!
