Sn0wbreeze 2.2.1 Download Available: Fixes iBooks

Sn0wbreeze for Windows users has been updated to 2.2.1 by iH8sn0w. This latest release fixes the iBooks issue, and includes drag and drop for firmware files, plus fixes iREB issues for the iPhone 3G on “Waiting for iBSS”. It will also jailbreak iOS 4.2.6 for Verizon iPhone users.

How is sn0wbreeze different from greenpois0n?

Sn0wbreeze is the Windows equivalent of PwnageTool. These two jailbreak tools create a custom jailbroken firmware that you use to restore your iPhone with. Sn0wbreeze/PwnageTool will allow you to update to the latest firmware while keeping your existing baseband firmware for those that need an unlock. So after using sn0wbreeze/PwnageTool you can then use ultrasn0w 1.2 to unlock your iPhone 4/3GS/3G.

If you don’t care for an unlock, just use our greenpois0n tutorials for iOS 4.2.1.

No matter what baseband version I’m running on 4.2.1, I just have to jailbreak with sn0wbreeze and I’ll be able to unlock my iPhone 4 ??

  • No. It depends on what version baseband you have.

I got 03.10.01 and its not listed under basebands for unlock. How do i unlock the iphone4 after jailbreak.

  • You can’t. You’ll have to wait for the new one from the Dev Team.

So dont jailbreak to save the baseband?.

  • is snowbreeze 2.2 and 2.2.1 same ………. while i was searching for snowbreeze software i came across two different version , one is 2.2 and other one is 2.2.1 , which is one is latest or both are same?

No. You appear to be confused. Your baseband has not been hacked to allow your phone to be unlocked (to use another service provider); but feel free to jailbreak your phone (to access non-apple approved software).

Thanks for the info. Since I don’t use iBooks, is there any reason for me to update from 2.2? I don’t think I had an iReb problem when I jailbroke but I could be wrong. In the meantime, I’ve discovered after jailbreaking and installing a few apps (amazing stuff) that now when I click a web link in an email, it crashes everytime. Not sure if it’s one app causing this or the jailbreak itself. Anyone else find this?
Also, on the baseband issue, I’m at 05.15.04 and I understand that I need to update it to a newer one to be able to unlock. Yet there are alot of warnings out there that updating it may cause the GPS to stop working and I need the GPS so I’m holding off. Anyone know the solution to this problem?
Thanks for all the great info.

  • If these crashes persist after reboots, I would consider re-jailbreaking
using PwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze as a last resort, to “restore” your phone.

As for the unlock, do not update via iTunes if you want to keep your
    existing baseband. Use Sn0wbreeze.

I isolated the crash to Lockinfo. When I uninstalled it, the problem went away. I let the developer know. As for unlocking, I’m leaving my baseband where it is because of the GPS issue but that leaves me with no available unlock. As I said, I’ve heard that if I update my baseband, I’ll lose GPS but I can’t unlock my current baseband according to Ultrasnow (I believe). Thanks.
