You’ll get a free Family Unlimited Plan for one year, worth $149, for new users. After that, you’ll be required to pay to continue of course. It’s their way to getting leads for their excellent offsite backup service, which we’ve been using for years.

CrashPlan’s free companion iOS app allows users to easily access their files from anywhere at anytime. While Apple’s Time Machine serves its purpose locally, data on your external hard drive is useless if stolen or your house burns down. Can you put a price on pictures of your first born child?

Users will be emailed a promo code starting January 13, 2015 to use a Family plan free for a year. You have until January 12, 2015 to complete the form.

Let us know if you’re going to jump on this!

US only, according to the rules 🙁

Curiously, the form asks for Country. I signed up (but it takes 2 weeks to get your code, as it’s a “sweepstakes”) — we’ll see if they permit the entry.

Amazon Glacier or S3 are the best for cloud data storage, all other services are essentially using Amazon As their back end.

This is US only and they actually validate your IP address redirecting you to another page stating that we are not eligible and a reference URL where it clearly explains it is for US citizens only.

Did anyone actually get anything from Crashplan about the free promo? It’s now February and I didn’t get anything.
