Today Apple released the fourth Mac OS X 10.6.2 update to developers. The new OS X build fixes issues in Image Capture, ColorSync, Dock crashes, Graphics Drivers, and QuartzCore, among other issues apparent in earlier builds.

On a more serious note, the new Magic Mouse user guide makes reference to OS X 10.6.2. Once released, 10.6.2 will likely have software support built-in for Apple’s new Magic Mouse. This means that users of Mac OS X 10.5.7 and earlier will have to install the latest OS X updates in order to use the new mouse.

Users of Mac OS X 10.5.7 and earlier will have to update to OS X 10.5.8 or later and then install a separate Wireless Mouse Software Update 1.0. Owners of Snow Leopard (10.6) updating to OS X 10.6.2 will have the wireless mouse software pre-installed with their update.

Of course, if pre-10.5.8 users care not for the mouse, then all is well.
