AirPods Wireless Charging Case Priced at $69 US, Coming in December: Rumour

One of the most exciting announcements at Apple’s iPhone keynote was the addition of wireless charging via the Qi standard for iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus and iPhone X.

Apple is set to debut a new Qi charging mat called AirPower in 2018, which will allow users to simultaneously charge their new iPhone, Apple Watch Series 3 and AirPods, with the latter set to gain compatibility with a new wireless charging case. Third party Qi mats have already been announced by Belkin and Mophie, with more to come.

The new case looks identical to the existing AirPods case, but adds an LED indicator to the front below the lid, as seen in the image below:

According to MacPrime, the site claims info from Apple Switzerland mentioned the wireless AirPods charging case will debut in December, priced at $69 USD. Here’s the Google translation below:

According to information received from Apple Switzerland, the loading case for AirPods will be available from December for 69 US dollars.

$69 USD converted to Canadian today, is about $85, and Apple’s pricing could be higher locally (like we’re seeing for iPhone X).

Are you interested in getting a wireless AirPods charging case, or will you continue to ‘slum’ it by plugging in your Lightning cable?
