Amazon Canada Shipped 400,000 Items with Prime Same-Day Delivery During Holidays

Amazon has announced a record-breaking holiday season, noting it shipped over 1 billion items with Prime worldwide this year. In Canada, the company said “over 400,000 items shipped with Prime FREE Same-Day Delivery to Toronto and Vancouver.”

Mobile app usage surged by 56% worldwide this holiday, with over 72% of Amazon customers worldwide using a mobile device during the holiday period, which saw December 19 as the company’s peak worldwide shipping day.

The company also noted they recently opened their first robotics fulfilment centre in Canada, which hired over 700 new full-time positions, while 2,000 seasonal jobs were hired to help fulfill holiday orders on Amazon.ca.

“We are excited to have so many Canadian customers try Amazon Prime for the first time this holiday season,” said Mike Strauch, Country Manager for Amazon.ca, in an emailed statement to iPhone in Canada. “In addition to unlimited FREE Two-Day Shipping on all purchases, Prime members can now enjoy even more Prime benefits.”

Amazon launch same-day Prime shipping speeds for Toronto and Vancouver this year, available seven days a week. Recently, the company launched Prime Video, its streaming video service, as an added free perk for Canadian Prime members and beyond.
