Amazon Canada Shipped a Record Number of Packages this Holiday Season

Did you get your Christmas shopping done on Amazon.ca this year? If you did, then you were part of the “record number of packages shipped within Canada” this holiday period, announced the company this morning.

Amazon.ca did not mention the specific number of packages, only to say it was the best on record, naming popular selling items such as the Garmin Vivofit Activity Tracker, VIZIO 32-Inch 1080p Smart LED HDTV and album 25 by Adele.

Amazon explains it shipped to over 185 countries and in the third week of December alone, over 3 million new Prime members joined the service, which offers free unlimited two-day shipping on products fulfilled by the company.

Alexandre Gagnon, Country Manager for Amazon.ca, said in a statement “We are thankful to our customers for making the 2015 holiday season a record-breaker for Amazon.ca.”

Below are a few “fun” facts shared by Amazon, relating to good Canadians purchased during the 2015 holiday season (Boxing Week is still ongoing):

  • Amazon.ca customers purchased enough LEGO creative brick boxes to reach the top of the CN Tower 27 times.
  • Amazon.ca customers purchased more pairs of jeans than there are cities, towns and villages in Canada.
  • Amazon.ca customers purchased enough Harry Potter: The Complete 8-Film Collection to reach the top of Hogwarts castle 16 times.

For a limited time, Amazon is offering 25% off all AmazonBasics goods exclusively for Prime members, which includes items such as 6-foot long Apple-certified Lightning to USB cables for $7.49 plus tax.
