An Entire Wedding Video and Photo Shoot on the iPhone 4

Share:

If you’re getting married soon, it might be a good idea to invest a decent wedding photographer to document those lasting memories. Or, you could go the Apple route and have the entire thing shot with an iPhone 4. The following video is a wedding documented with four iPhone 4s by professional photographers and videographers. Obviously the quality will never rival an SLR, but you have to admit it’s a pretty neat achievement–and they did a great job:

Would you put your iPhone 4 to the wedding test like these guys?

I really like this. My friend is a professional photographer who shoots weddings frequently. Ever since I got my iPhone 4 I’ve been telling him that there isn’t THAT much of a difference between our cameras. Now there’s proof!

It helps to be a good photographer first.

A good photographer can make a good set of shots with a shoebox camera.

hope they don’t want a lovely 60 inch canvas! 😉

The pictures are amazing and the video recording is just good. But because of the retina display it obviously looks much better on my phone than it does when i send it on the pc.

Probably not when its small but you can really start to see the limitations of the iPhone 4 once you blow up the images. I wouldn’t trust important events to an iPhone 4 though, won’t work down the rode when i want to frame it or keep a raw copy.

Before going to try it yourself, check out what they use.  Yes, they use iPhones, but also “Housings were used for the phones that allowed them to change lenses,
as well as provided handles and mounts for a light, microphone and
tripod. An assistant helped with lighting.”    Change lenses!!!   And you can see that all their video shots are shot with tripods.

So why go through all these trouble to use an equipment obviously not designed for this?   It is more of a just-to-prove-that-it-can-be-done and most importantly, for publicity, rather than of practical use.    Their plan worked out great judging by reports like this one.

And you can get similar, if not better results with most current $150 to $200 compact digital cameras with HD video recording capability (e.g. $199 Sony WX9 with 1080i video).  And remember that an iPhone would cost 3 to 4x more.

It’s an impressive demonstration of the iPhone 4 but, yeah, if you want big ol pics you’re gonna want someone with a DSLR snapping away.
Still, fun to watch and well done.

impressive, but i doubt the editing was done on the iPhone 4.

Yes I know, in low light conditions and situations where you want big clear images the iPhone won’t do you much good.

Follow on honeymoon photo shots and video clips would have been awesome 🙂

Woohoo the photos and videos were taken on an iPhone 4, not the editing. This makes it seem like the editing was also done on the iPhone 4. Better would have been on a Galaxy S II, that has a much much better camera than an iPhone 4

Sadly people will see something like this and think that any of their friends with an iPhone can be their photographer for their wedding.  Lots of couples looking to save money at their weddings forget that the PHOTOGRAPHER is about 18,000x more important than the equipment.
