[Update] Apple Developer Site is Down: “We’ll Be Back Soon”

Update: Looks like it’s back up, but nothing is new.

With earlier rumours of iOS 5 Beta 8 being released Friday, as of publishing the Apple Developer site is down with the usual “We’ll Be Back Soon” image we’ve become accustomed to via the Apple Online Store.

Could we see a new beta released today or later this evening? The world is just waiting for Apple to announce a media event to showcase the next iPhone and the public release of iOS 5. What does this mean??
