Apple to Reportedly Launch 4.7-Inch iPhone 6 in August, Not September [u]

According to a report from Taiwanese publication the Economic Daily News (via Reuters), anonymous supply chain sources have told the latter Apple will launch a 4.7-inch iPhone 6 in August, instead of September:

Apple Inc will unveil the next incarnation of its popular iPhone series in August, one month earlier than industry watchers were generally expecting, Taiwanese media reported on Friday citing unidentified supply-chain sources.

A 4.7-inch screen version of the iPhone 6 will reach stores in August, the Economic Daily News reported without specifying which markets would receive the phone first.

A 5.5-inch or 5.6-inch model will be released in September, the newspaper said, as the iPhone 5 series was previously.

As for September, that is when Apple will debut an even larger 5.5 or 5.6-inch iPhone 6 model, during its ‘usual’ iPhone refresh period, claims sources. The Economic Daily News says 80 million iPhone 6 models will be produced this year.

A translation of the report says the iPhone 6 will have a slimmer design and will be more ‘circular’ than the iPhone 5/5s design (meaning rounded), in line with the recent plethora of alleged dummy model leaks. The camera will be upgraded from 8 to 10 megapixels and Touch ID will remain.

Sources also tell the publication Foxconn and other iPhone suppliers have been notified of the new timeline, saying production could be moved up to the end of June.

Back in March, Reuters reported its supply chain sources said Apple was making 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch iPhone 6 displays (echoing a report from last summer), with the latter reportedly delayed.

Yesterday, the Commercial Times noted Apple supplier Pegatron had reported landed 15% of 4.7-inch iPhone 6 orders for a September launch, which contradicts this report by the Economic Daily News.

what will be the price range of iPhone 6

These release dates are speculation only … Price points would be the same … One would assume Apple will maintain current price points but nothing is confirmed until Tim Cook says it on stage.

The $100 price increase rumor is making sense as I can see the 4.7″ model being the same initial price point as previous launches and the 5.5″ model being $100 more
