Apple Music to Have 54.5 Million Average Monthly Users in 2015: Nielsen

Despite being available only since June 30, 2015, Apple Music has already become one of the most popular apps, with more than 54.5 million average monthly users, according to Nielsen’s latest report (via AppleInsider).

Apple’s music streaming service took a decent #9 spot in Nielsen’s Top Smartphone Apps of 2015 chart, right below Instagram, which had more than 55 million average monthly users. To get the final chart, Nielsen ranked the average unique audience of the apps, which is the average of January 2015 to October 2015.

It is worth adding that Apple’s Tim Cook threw in official numbers of Apple Music users: About 15 million iDevice owners were streaming music using the service, 6.5 million of whom were said to be paying subscribers.

Apple Music for Android entered public beta in November, so most likely the numbers have changed since then.

As for other popular apps, well, Facebook takes the top position yet again, and Facebook Messenger recorded the biggest growth of 31% between January and October 2015.
