Apple Partners with Sesame Workshop to Produce Kids’ Programming

According to a new report from Deadline, Apple is partnering with Sesame Workshop to create live-action and animated series for children. Sesame Street will not be included as HBO has the exclusive streaming rights to new episodes.

Apple is continuing to make huge content deals. Just last week, the company announced a multi-year content deal with Oprah. The partnerships extend to projects involvingĀ Jennifer Aniston, Reese Witherspoon, Octavia Spencer, Steven Spielberg and M. Night Shyamalan.

Just this week, Apple put in an order for a drama series based on a true story of journalist Hilde Lysiak, who was the first person to expose a murder in her hometown of Pennsylvania.

Unless you count efforts like Carpool Karaoke and Planet of the Apps, none of these shows have actually launched. The company reportedly plans to launch the first set of original content in the first quarter of 2019, presumably as a part of a new subscription streaming service.
