Apple Recalls Beats Pill XL Portable Wireless Speakers Due to Possible Fire Hazard

Apple today announced the recall of all Beats Pill XL speakers and offered a refund to customers. After carefully inspecting the product, Apple determined that in rare cases the battery could pose a fire safety risk. Other Beats products are unaffected.

If you are a customer with a Beats Pill XL speaker, Apple asks that you stop using the product immediately and visit http://www.apple.com/ca/support/beats-pillxl-recall to get the details of the return process and how to get the $395 CAD Apple Store credit or electronic payment.

Customers are invited to fill in this Web form to participate in the Beats Pill XL Speaker Recall Program. After that they will receive a postage-paid box so they can return the product, and Apple will process the payment within three weeks of the box arriving back at the company.

If you choose Apple Store credit, you’ll get an email with a gift card; if you choose electronic payment, the payment will be sent to your bank account.
