Canadian Grocery Stores Prioritize Online Ordering as Millennials Take Over the Market

In 2018, online ordering for groceries is continuing to grow in popularity in Canada as millennials are taking over the market.

The country’s largest grocery stores have been making investments in their technological and supply chain systems to allow for online ordering and in-store pickup. Most grocers have made deals with third-party delivery services. The trend of online ordering will continue to grow as millennials take over more and more of the market. In a statement, director of Facebook IQ Ann Mack said:

“Shoppers used to agree to inconvenience for a better deal. The new paradigm is convenience is king and time is money.”

Google Canada’s director of retail said that over the past two years the number of searches for “same-day shipping” has doubled. Millennials want to get things as quickly as possible, and now that we have easy-to-access methods of getting groceries, these grocers will have to keep up.

Inabuggy CEO Julian Gleizer said that the demand for online grocery ordering and delivery has increased dramatically. Inabuggy delivers from 38 stores in over 30 regions across Canada, which includes stores like McEwans and Walmart.
