Control AirPods Using Voice Commands Without Internet Access

We all know that Siri just doesn’t work without a decent internet connection, which means AirPods users need to pull out their iPhones or use their Apple Watch for music controls. However, in order to be able to control the AirPods using voice commands without an active internet connection, the folks over at 9to5Mac have come up with a temporary solution.

To achieve what we want, we need to revert to Siri’s predecessor, Voice Control. Here’s what you need to do to enable it and get it working with AirPods:

Step 1:

Go to Settings > General > Accessibility.

1

Step 2:

Now tap the Home Button option. Under the ‘PRESS AND HOLD TO SPEAK’ section, select ‘Voice Control’.

2

Step 3:

Now in any situation where you’d normally trigger Siri, Voice Control will appear in its place.

You can now use Voice Control with AirPods to play/pause, skip, return, and even play specific artists, albums, song, and playlists all without internet access.

That’s it, enjoy!
