Control AirPods Using Voice Commands Without Internet Access

We all know that Siri just doesn’t work without a decent internet connection, which means AirPods users need to pull out their iPhones or use their Apple Watch for music controls. However, in order to be able to control the AirPods using voice commands without an active internet connection, the folks over at 9to5Mac have come up with a temporary solution.

To achieve what we want, we need to revert to Siri’s predecessor, Voice Control. Here’s what you need to do to enable it and get it working with AirPods:

Step 1:

Go to Settings > General > Accessibility.

Step 2:

Now tap the Home Button option. Under the ‘PRESS AND HOLD TO SPEAK’ section, select ‘Voice Control’.

Step 3:

Now in any situation where you’d normally trigger Siri, Voice Control will appear in its place.

You can now use Voice Control with AirPods to play/pause, skip, return, and even play specific artists, albums, song, and playlists all without internet access.

That’s it, enjoy!

Good article and nice way for people to get around the internet issue, but honestly applying that option is just a step backwards. Apple needs to implement something so this is not a problem. People aren’t always “connected” everywhere they go or even want to be “connected”.

I followed work opportunity I found online and I am happy that i earned so much money. It’s really user friendly and I’m just so grateful that I found out about this. Seriously, the two things I use the home button for are in accessibility. How annoying, I only found out due to this article about the voice control feature as I had to switch to Siri until this. I drive sometimes and would like to call my friend ; I don’t have a data plan and I don’t need one, Wi-Fi is my best friend.
