David Fincher Ditches Steve Jobs Movie Over $10 Million Fee Demand

According to The Hollywood Reporter, director David Fincher has bowed out of directing Sony’s Steve Jobs movie, as his demands for a $10 million up front fee wasn’t something the latter was willing to give him, plus control over marketing:

A source with ties to the studio says Fincher potentially could re-enter negotiations but that the fee he is seeking is “ridiculous,” adding, “You’re not doing Transformers here. You’re not doing Captain America. This is quality — it’s not screaming commerciality. He should be rewarded in success but not up front.”

The Social Network director was first rumoured to direct the Steve Jobs movie back in February and last month it was said Fincher wanted Christian Bale to play Jobs in the lead role.

Man, no Fincher or Bale? That really sucks. Let’s pray it’s better than Ashton Kutcher’s Steve Jobs biopic.
