German based consumer technology products brand Elgato has today announced its second generation of Eve Room sensor for HomeKit at CES 2018 in Las Vegas, featuring an E-Ink display and a rechargeable built-in battery. The new version of the popular indoor sensor works right out of the box, and lets you track air quality, temperature and humidity.
Sporting an elegant anodized aluminum housing with curved contours, the new Even Room is built upon the latest sensor technology from market-leading Swiss manufacturer Sensirion, and eliminates the need to spend extra on a bridge device or starter pack. The large E-Ink display with a wide viewing angle ensures that indoor conditions are visible at a glance from anywhere in the room.
“The new Eve Room is another example of Elgato taking HomeKit accessories to the next level,” said Markus Fest, CEO of Elgato. “Not only is Eve Room more convenient because of its E-Ink display and sleek, wireless design, but it also has greater accuracy thanks to Sensirion’s latest generation sensor technology.”
The free Eve app visualizes current and past climate data right on your iPhone or iPad. Taking advantage of Apple’s revolutionary HomeKit technology, Eve Room offers unparalleled ease of use, advanced security, and tight integration with Siri. The second generation Eve Room will be available in March though Elgato’s official website, Amazon and Apple for US $99.95.
Elgato has also unveiled a new Thunderbolt 3 Mini Dock today, featuring one DisplayPort 1.2, one HDMI 2.0 with support for HDCP 2.2, a Gigabit Ethernet port, and a USB Type A port with support for UASP.
“Thunderbolt 3 is the only standard that offers full performance and stability when simultaneously running 4K video and high bandwidth data signals over a single port,” said Markus Fest, General Manager, Elgato Systems. “With Elgato Thunderbolt 3 Mini Dock, building sure-fire setups becomes possible whenever and wherever you work.”
The Thunderbolt 3 Mini Dock will be available later this year at an undisclosed price.
