Facebook Canada’s Head to Leave the Company in Late August

Jordan Banks, the head of Facebook’s Canadian division, has announced that he will be leaving the company in late August.

Banks, the Managing Director of Facebook and Instagram Canada, announced the move in an internal post to employees of the company. In the internal memo, which was provided to BNN, Banks said:

“After seven of the most incredible years imaginable, it was with mixed emotions that earlier this week I announced my decision to leave Facebook. I have happily agreed to stay in my job until late August so I can help in identifying and onboarding my successor.”

Banks has been with Facebook Canada since 2010 when the company only had a very small office in Toronto. Last year, the social network moved their operations in Toronto to a new office located in Toronto’s MaRS Discovery District. Facebook has now expanded to have offices in Ottawa, Montreal, and Vancouver.

Facebook currently has a total of 22 million monthly active users in Canada. The company has also gained a fair share of users on Instagram, with a total of 8.5 million monthly active users.
