Facebook Debuts ‘Unfollow’ Feature So You Don’t Have to Unfriend Anymore [PIC]

Facebook has announced a new ‘unfollow’ feature for people, groups and pages, allowing further control of what you see in your News Feed:

News Feed settings will now show a list of the top people, Pages and Groups that you’ve seen in your News Feed over the past week. You can choose to sort by people, Pages or Groups posts, or see an overall summary. Unfollow any friend, Page or Group if you don’t want to see their stories in your News Feed. You can also see who you’ve unfollowed in the past and can choose to re-follow them at anytime.

When you opt to see less news from a particular person or page, the arrow menu will now give an option to see less from that page or person—which leads to another prompt to ‘unfollow’ that person in your News Feed.

Facebook says the new options for giving feedback about your News Feed will become available today for desktop users, while roll out in the coming weeks for mobile. This looks to be Facebook’s solution to ignore annoying people and pages, instead of unfriending them, because that would just be too devastating.
