Workplace by Facebook launched in the fall of 2016 to help businesses collaborate easily using the social network’s platform, leveraging its messaging, groups and calling features.
Pricing for Workplace is at $3 USD per active user every month, but as of today, Facebook has announced the platform is now available for free for non-profits and educational institutions in Canada and worldwide, in a new version called Workplace for Good.
Facebook said, “Workplace is easy to use because it’s based on familiar Facebook features like News Feed, Groups and Chat, and for many teams it requires little to no training.”
Unicef UK has been using Workplace and the results have been positive, said Ric Sheldon, Chief Information Officer, saying “Workplace has made a huge difference in the way our staff communicates with each other. Ultimately this makes even more of a difference for children in danger who are in desperate need of Unicef’s help.”
In a statement to iPhone in Canada, a Facebook spokesperson said now “more than 30,000 organizations are using the platform to share ideas, brainstorm and achieve more together,” in nearly every industry.
