Google has posted a new video showing off the improved battery life of Chrome while using it on Windows. The company demonstrated the changes in a video that features two of Microsoft’s Surface Book notebooks each running Chrome 46 (2015) and Chrome 53 (2016).
The video test was based on running a Vimeo video on each laptop. he Surface Book with Chrome 46 ran out of battery power after 8 hours and 27 minutes, while the notebook running Chrome 53 turned off in 10 hours and 39 minutes. The notebook running the newer version of Chrome ran the video for over 2 hours longer.
Chrome 53 also includes a new Material Design user interface design for the first time, bringing an overall flatter look to tabs, windows, and icons. The new version of Chrome also brings battery improvements and energy savings to Mac users.
