HomePod Now Reads the News in Canada, Ahead of June 18 Launch

Ahead of Apple’s HomePod launch in Canada on June 18th, the speaker can now read the news in Canada from a variety of sources.

All you have to do is say “Hey Siri, read the news,” and an example response will be, “Here’s the latest news from CBC—you can also tell me to switch to CTV News, Global News and CNN.”

We can confirm this is now working in Canada on HomePod, similarly to what a MacRumors reader located in Toronto shared, earlier today.

Apple’s HomePod will launch on Monday at the price of $449 CAD, and will also debut in Germany and France as well. Apple made the announcement of HomePod coming to Canada in late May, noting French support would come later this year.

With the recent release of iOS 11.4, Apple launched AirPlay 2 and Calendar support for HomePod.
