Instagram Adds GIF Stickers into Stories with GIPHY Support

After months of rumours, Instagram officially debuted support for GIF stickers within its Stories feature.

Starting today, users can add GIFs of dancing cats and flying tacos over your photos and videos. The options are endless with hundreds of thousands of stickers to choose from thanks to the company’s integration with GIPHY.

In order to access the GIF stickers, tap the add sticker button at the top of Stories and then select the new GIF option. You can then simply drag the ones you want on to your photos or videos.

Users will have the option of browsing trending GIFs on GIPHY or searching the entire library. The GIF stickers are available from today on version 29 of both the iOS and Android apps.

The company also announced that they will be supporting photo and video uploads of any size to Stories. This means that you will no longer be forced to crop them in the 9:16 portrait format. According to Instagram, this feature will be rolling out to users in the “coming weeks.”
