Instagram Reportedly Developing its Own Portrait Mode-Like Feature

According to a new report from TechCrunch, Instagram is testing a new Portrait Mode-like feature in its mobile application. The report comes just days after code emerged hinting at support for a new audio and video calling feature within the app.

TechCrunch found a new icon file inside the Android Instagram application. The icon refers to the portrait shutter icon which could imply a new Portrait Mode-like feature for Android and possibly iOS devices.

The feature seems to add a blurred background and makes some other changes in lighting to pictures, which could in theory emulate a bokeh effect.

Instagram has not commented on this report. Its still unclear if or when the feature will come out. While iPhone users can actually take a Portrait Mode photo from the main camera and import it into Instagram, you can’t actually do the same thing from the app itself.

What do you think of the possibility of a Portrait Mode-like feature within the Instagram app for Android and iOS? Let us know in the comments below!
