What’s New in iOS 10.1 Beta 2 [VIDEO]

Earlier this week, Apple released iOS 10.1 beta 2 for developers and yesterday for Public Beta testers. If you want to find out what’s new in this smaller release, YouTube channel EverythingApplePro has detailed the changes in a new video.

Ios 10 1 beta 2

In a nutshell, here’s what’s new:

  • Notifications are now working from the Lockscreen
  • New: option to replay iMessage effects
  • Reduce Motion – Auto Play Message Effects now actually works
  • No more dots indicator dots in the sending GIF/app menu within iMessage
  • Fix for iPad motion data handling
Of course, iOS 10.1 beta comes with the new Portrait camera mode (beta) for iPhone 7 Plus users. The effect works well in its early stages and in the right lighting, is downright impressive. Check out our recent image taken below (iOS 10.1 beta 1):

As for Geekbench results, beta 2 saw a score just slightly lower than beta 1, but overall, the beta is deemed “smooth” and “works well.”

Battery life is awful on this beta. Don’t do it.

I’m not receiving notifications on beta 1 . Only when I’m on the phone do I get them

  • Jason Penner

Wifi speeds seem to be capped at 50meg down. I could hit the max Shaw provides of 178meg last on beta . Does anyone know when the transcriptive beta started in voicemails? I just stumbled upon it the other day and love it!

  • Hmm. We’ll give a shot later with Shaw once we update to the second beta.
As for the Transcription, it appeared for us when we first updated to iOS 10–it’s pretty good so far!
