iOS 10.3 Beta 1 Reportedly Coming Jan. 10 with New ‘Theatre Mode’

While we know iOS 10.3 beta 1 will inevitably be released to developers at some point in the future, Apple product leaker Sonny Dickson is claiming it is “scheduled” to be seeded on January 10, 2017. He also points out a new feature called “Theater Mode” will be present, which will come with a “popcorn-shaped Control Center icon.”

The “Theater Mode” could suggest a shortcut to Apple’s new TV app, or a new lighting mode where the iPhone display could change to a different colour tone and beyond its lowest brightness, to allow usage in a dark movie theatre without disturbing others.

Dickson leaked last year screenshots of Apple’s Support iOS app, which only launched in Canada and the USA this past month.

Regardless, we will have to wait and see if Dickson’s predictions will come true in eleven days.

  • I’m curious as to if and when that new mms bug that essentially kills your texting on the iPhone will be fixed.

I’m surprised you guys never posted the story either. Affects iOS 9, up to 10.2.1 beta 2 so far. There’s videos of proof on other blogs and online. Clicking on a link will basically permanently freeze the texting of your phone.

Not really a real world issue though, just an issue for anyone who has techie friends that like to screw with you. I.E. all my friends should expect their Messages app to be frozen shortly… 😉

I’m intrigued by this theatre mode, because isn’t such a feature more suited to phones with AMOLED displays? If this feature comes out it’s more proof that Apple is going to use AMOLEDs next year. Which is worrisome for any iPhone user who’s ever seen how crap the displays with Android users. Though the ?watch uses it, but it’s white on black. Could the iPhone really go White on Black? I kinda hope not. However cool a dark mode would be on the iPhone… It would cause issues for certain apps I am sure.
